This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Break, published by Pittopotamus Pixels, handles information when you use the mobile app. We wrote it for normal people, so here is the short version: Daily Break works without an account, keeps most of your game data on your device, uses a small number of service providers to run and understand the app, and does not sell your personal information.
Guest-first play and data on your device
You do not need an account to play Daily Break. We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, or contacts to play.
Your puzzle progress, streaks, settings, reminder preferences, and downloaded daily puzzle sets are primarily stored locally on your device. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling Daily Break removes that locally stored data. Daily Break does not currently offer an account or cloud-sync feature.
Product analytics with PostHog
Daily Break uses PostHog for privacy-conscious product analytics. A random anonymous installation identifier is generated and stored on your device so we can measure app use and retention across sessions without making your name or email your analytics identity.
Analytics may include:
- App opens and screen views
- Game type and published puzzle identifier
- Puzzle starts, completions, and failures
- Solve time and guess count, where applicable
- Streak and Golden Paw activity
- Hint usage and ad-placement events
- Reminder interactions
- Sharing and challenge events
- App version, build number, and release environment
- Your optional puzzle-difficulty reaction, such as too easy, just right, or too hard
Daily Break intentionally does not send PostHog:
- Puzzle answers
- PawsWord guessed words
- Sameish words or categories
- Crossed clue answers
- Real names, email addresses, or contacts
- Advertising identifiers as the Daily Break analytics identity
Crash and performance diagnostics with Sentry
Daily Break uses Sentry for crash and error reporting and limited performance diagnostics. This may include crash or error information, stack traces, the app version and build, operating system and device technical information, non-sensitive diagnostic breadcrumbs, and limited performance timing.
We configure Sentry to avoid intentionally sending default personal information. We also filter diagnostic information controlled by Daily Break to prevent puzzle answers, private content, names, email addresses, secrets, and arbitrary storage dumps from being attached.
Advertising with Google Mobile Ads
Daily Break uses Google Mobile Ads, also known as AdMob. Google's Mobile Ads SDK may process information such as your IP address and approximate location derived from it, app and ad interactions, diagnostic or performance information, and device or account identifiers used by Google's advertising systems. Google may use this information for advertising, analytics, security, and fraud prevention.
During testing, Daily Break may use test ads. Production advertising may be introduced in released versions, with consent and privacy controls applied where required by law and platform policy.
Sharing puzzle results
Sharing is voluntary. Daily Break creates spoiler-safe result text or an image and an opaque challenge link, then opens your device's native share sheet. Daily Break does not read your contact list to perform sharing. You choose the third-party app or recipient that receives the share, and that operating-system or share destination may process the content under its own privacy policy.
Challenge links do not contain puzzle answers, names, email addresses, or device identifiers.
Daily puzzle delivery
Daily Break retrieves daily puzzle content from hosted backend infrastructure. Hosting and service providers may necessarily process standard network information, such as IP address and request or diagnostic information, to deliver that content securely and reliably.
Optional local reminders
Daily reminders are optional and off by default. If you turn them on, Daily Break asks for your operating system's notification permission and schedules a reminder for the time you select. Daily Break does not upload your contacts to provide reminders.
Service providers and data sharing
Pittopotamus Pixels uses service providers only as needed to operate, protect, and understand Daily Break. Current providers include:
- Google / AdMob for advertising and related analytics and security
- PostHog for product analytics
- Sentry for crash, error, and performance diagnostics
- Supabase and hosting infrastructure for delivery of Daily Break puzzle content and related backend infrastructure
Pittopotamus Pixels does not sell users' personal information. We may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, or prevent abuse and fraud.
Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, including encrypted network connections where supported by our service providers. No app, service, or method of transmitting or storing information can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
- Locally stored app data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall Daily Break.
- Server-side analytics and diagnostic records are retained only as reasonably necessary for operation, analytics, security, debugging, and applicable legal requirements, subject to the retention settings of our service providers.
- Because Daily Break currently has no user accounts, there is no account profile to delete.
You may use the Pittopotamus Pixels contact page to ask privacy questions or request deletion of identifiable server-side data where applicable. Some anonymous information may not be technically linkable back to a specific person, which can make identifying or deleting it individually impossible.
Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Daily Break evolves. When we do, we will revise the effective or last-updated date shown at the top of this page.
